Donnelly Centre 2020 Annual Report

Despite the challenges raised by the coronavirus pandemic, the Centre’s research program continued to thrive and Brenda Andrews had much to be proud of as she completed her third and final term as Director, the position she held since the Centre launched in 2004.

The Centre’s investigators made progress uncovering new molecular insights into health and disease, with several groups pivoting to studying SARS-CoV-2 in a bid to better understand the virus biology and develop diagnostics and treatments. Meanwhile, the Centre continued to refresh its talent pool by hiring new faculty and trainees some of whom are yet to experience normal life in Toronto.

This report highlights some of the most significant discoveries made by the Centre’s investigators at all stages of their careers over the past year as well as their personal accomplishments as top researchers in their fields.

As always, we extend our thanks to Mr. Terrence Donnelly whose generous gift helped establish the Centre and whose support of the Accelerator for Donnelly Collaboration is helping turn the discoveries made in the Centre into new medicines.
